He was a retired deputy sheriff with five years of service in Isleboro, Maine, and was an Army veteran. He was a member of Pearl of West F&AM, Gulf High Twelve Club, Egypt Temple Shrine, Tampa, and was Past Master of F&AM Lodge, Maine. He was Jewish.
