| Notes |
- Dec. 30, 2000: Gertrude kept the vital record registers for her father when he was the Rabbi of the synagogue in Sherbrooke. She referred to it as the Ahavas Sholom although the government records refer to it as the Jewish Congregation of Sherbrooke.
She said she made the entries in two places. One was a very large volume that remained in the synagogue and was kept on an ongoing basis. She said this was for the Federal Government but certainly had to be the synagogue's own permanent records. The second was a small register that was submitted to the provincial goverment at the end of each year.
SCHACHTER, Gertrude (nee Mittleman). It is with
profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gertrude Schachter
at eighty-nine years of age, on Sunday, February 8, 2009. She was the
beloved wife of the late Abe Schachter, and will be held in loving
memory by her daughter, Sandra; her son, Raphael and daughter-inlaw,
Evelyn; her sister, Eta Golt; her grandchildren, Ilan, Sharonne;
Nathaniel, Ariela and Warren. Predeceased by her brother Joseph. The
family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Steger Residence: Maureen,
Jasmine and her nursing staff, for their devoted care and kindness over
the years. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St.
W., on Tuesday, February 10, at 1 p.m. Burial at the Chevra Kadisha
B'nai Jacob Congregation Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O.
