RichardWaysse (September 19, 1926 to November 22, 2023)RichardWaysse was born in New York City in 1926 to Ralph and Ruth Waysse (nee Perle), and grew up in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and upon his return attended New York University on the G.I. bill, where he received a degree in accounting and finance. Upon graduation, he worked in the life insurance industry and then for many years as a special agent with the Internal Revenue Service. He lived in the Bronx for many years before moving to Suffern, New York later in life. He had wide ranging pursuits: he was an avid photographer, an amateur pilot, and had a lifelong interest in the American West and Native American cultures and history.He was preceded in death by his wife Roslyn Waysse (nee Silverman). He is survived by his daughter Audrey Waysse, son-in-law William Hartung, granddaughter Emma Hartung, his second wife Vivien Grossman Waysse, stepson Jeffrey Grossman, his wife Sindee Grossman, and their daughter Jenna Grossman. Donations in his honor may be made to the Humane Society of the United States, the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., or the American Indian College Fund.
